The Walk Of Abraham A look At Abraham And His Journey With The Covenant Keeping God

We will further examine the walk of Abraham.

I want you to see he believed the covenant keeping God and began to depend on His word before he actually entered into covenant. He entered into covenant in Genesis 14 and we’ll reexamine that. Romans the fourth chapter says Abraham believed the Creator and it was counted unto him for righteousness. We will see how he depended on the word of Yahweh the Covenant Keeping God and began to walk in what was told to him. Later he actually entered into a covenant.

We’ll go over his walk with the Lord in Genesis the twelfth chapter as he learned to trust and walk with the Covenant Keeping God.

What was said in Genesis 15:6 was said in Romans.

Genesis 15:6 (KJV) 6 And he believed in the LORD (the covenant keeping god); and he counted it to him for righteousness.

I will revisit Abraham and his experience as he learned about the Covenant Keeping God. I talked about his experience of entering into covenant. Abraham was considered a prophet (Genesis 20:7). In fact the Lord said he was. He prophesied what the Lord Jesus would say, this is my body broken for you, this is the blood of the new covenant. He prophesied Romans 10:9. Paul said he preached the gospel that was preached to Abraham.

One of the problems with scriptures today is there are various translations. Some in places are better than others. I primarily use the King James version but It is not perfect. The word Easter in your bible is really the word Passover. I do a lot of research and study with translations.

As we follow the life of Abraham you will see the word Lord and God is Yahweh the Covenant Keeping God. The name Yahweh was later changed to Jehovah by a Spanish monk in 1270 ad. There are some ministers that understand the word Jehovah as the Covenant Keeping God used in that sense. Originally it was Yah or Yahweh the Covenant Keeping God.

Amos 8:11 (KJV) 11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words (dabar) of the LORD:

Dabar there means the meanings would be lost. Paul said to use sound words, wholesome words. Faith comes by hearing, if you are not hearing the correct meanings then you are robbed of the kind of faith that enables to walk with the Lord in a covenant relationship to be made whole. The scripture says my people are destroyed from a lack of knowledge. It is detrimental to your health. In different ways Satan has undermined the covenant relationship and the truth of what the word says. I have used this example many times, if you say the word dog people understand what you are talking about. There are different kinds of dogs. If you say cat you know what a cat is but you also know there are different categories of cats. If you say the word save most people think it means to be born again and get ready to die. You miss the point that the word save means to be made whole. It means to be healed, rescued, delivered, safety, physically or morally. If you say the word savior, as in Jesus your Lord and Savior you miss the point that a savior is one who will run to defend you in the time of need. From the beginning Satan has changed and corrupted the word. Some translations of the bible are written just to make money. It ends up hurting the believer because you missed the full impact of the word. Now with modern technology Satan used that to change the word.

Some years ago there was a popular movie The Passions of the Christ. In the beginning you see a man that is supposed to be Jesus. He portrays a long haired, handsome six foot tall man. People do not know the scriptures so they are deceived by all these pictures and they think this is what Jesus looked like.

Isaiah 53 is your covenant contract.

 Isaiah 53:1-3 (KJV) 1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

When Judas betrayed Jesus the people that came after him did not know what he looked like. He had to betray him with a kiss. Jesus was an ordinary looking Jewish man.

The name Jesus is part of the name Zeus. If you look pictures of the Greek god Zeus you will see long haired man and that is where they got the idea of Jesus looking that way. Movies and pictures have blinded people who do not know or have not read the scriptures or have missed things.

Another deception in that movie is when a snake came down out of a tree and Jesus stepped on it. People misinterpret the scripture in Genesis when it states he would crush or bruise the devils head

 Genesis 3:15 (KJV) 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Pastors here in the United States have taken congregations to watch this movie and they miss the whole point. Satan does not know everything. The scriptures say he would never have crucified Christ if he would have known what would happen. Satan did not know Jesus would die as the Lamb and redeem all mankind, set the captives free and people would be able to come out darkness; the kingdom of Satan. He became the redeemer kinsman of mankind to all that would receive Him. Innocent people see these type of lies in movies and teachings and think what they see or hear portrayed is truth.

Satan’s head was crushed at Calvary when the Redeemer died for our sins, sickness and diseases and redeemed us from the curse of the law.

When the tower of Baal (Babylon) was built they were trying to get up to the stars, moon and sun. The sun god was the god they worshiped for growth and good crops. The moon god was the harvest time and the stars were a symbol of Tammuz a symbol of the mating between the sun and the moon. When the Lord broke up Babylon and they went to different parts of the world according to the language every religion, every language still has traces of that type of worship. All languages have some mixture of paganism. The Hebrew language is the only one that does not have an association with paganism.

I was in Uganda two years ago and there was a women who had a bad crop. It was in the newspaper she was going to do a sacrifice to the moon god. She wanted the moon to bless her harvest. The Jews turned away from the covenant keeping God and began to worship the sun, moon and stars.

In Australia the Aborigines were considered a special race. Darwin stated the lie about races. There are only two races those born again and the human race. There have been different stories about the flood. They vary from time to time but there is still paganism in their language. To me personally I find it important to understand as Abraham obeyed the Lord and began to do what the Lord told him to do. He was in a learning process before he ever entered into covenant. In his relationship with the Lord Abraham began to understand He would keep His word and do what He said. The covenant started all the way in Genesis and goes through Revelation. The whole story from Genesis to Revelation is to come out of Babylon.

Revelation 18:4 (KJV) 4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

One of the first things Abraham was told to do was come out and he obeyed the Covenant Keeping God.

In Nehemiah they came back to build the temple. There were spread all over the world.

Nehemiah 8:8 (KJV) 8 So they read in the book in the law of God (Creator) distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

As the word was changed and they began to replace the letter Y with J. There was no letter J in the Hebrew language. You can see from this list how words were changed.

Mocheh = Moses, saved by water.

Elijah = Eli Yah, meaning my God is Yah

Judah = Yahudah, Yah commands.

Yahudim = called Jews, Yah – wife (bride)

Joseph = Yosef

Jacob = Ya’akob = heel catcher (contender).Jacob was changed to Israel.

Israel = Yisrael contend with God

John = Yahuchanon Yah-sheweth favour

Ezekiel = Yehezael

Peter = Kepha called Cephes in Galatians 2:9

Yah was changed to Jah and it meant the self-existing God, He who was and is and is to come. Throughout the scripture the bible speaks of Israel as a woman and as an unfaithful woman involved in adultery and fornication and the Lord divorced them.

I found that in Uganda the book of John the name was spelled or written correctly. The languages of the world reflected the influence paganism and corruption.

As Abraham began to walk with the Lord and learned about Him in a covenant relationship we want to examine the scriptures. What I do for myself is use the term Yahweh. It is used over 6000 times throughout the scriptures. When you know the meaning and definitions it reinforces in your heart and your mind a whole different thought process. The scriptures say they knew Him by His name God Almighty but they didn’t know Him by His name Yahweh the covenant keeping God and that is true for this church today. So I retrain my thinking. The scripture says to renew your mind. I hope as I go through this teaching you will begin to think in terms of the definitions and use them as you believe and add covenant to your born again experience. This is what Romans 10:9 says. If thou shall make a binding agreement or covenant with your covenant keeping God thou shalt be made whole. Adding covenant is the only way you are going to be able to overcome when the day comes you can’t buy or sell with the mark of the beast.

Revelation 12:11 (KJV) 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Testimony means judicial, covenant, a witness. Old Testament means old covenant and New Testament means new covenant. I want all my thoughts to reflect my covenant relationship with the Lord.

I was recently going to go Uganda but had lost my passport and had went through some problems with my visa. I was told I had to get my visa on the internet and could not get a single entry which was not true. I went through a paid service to get my visa and it cost almost $300. There are bribes and dishonesty in everything you are trying to do. I was running out of time when I realized I lost my passport. I looked for it and prayed and had others pray about it. A song came to my mind, Call When You Need His Assistance. He Will Hear When You Call His Name.

Being frustrated, stressed out and pressed for time I yelled out Yahweh help me and within a short time I found my passport. That may seem like a little thing but He helped me begin to put my faith in a covenant relationship because I have entered into one to Him. We all need to be able to do that.

Another scripture that we call the Lord’s Prayer says Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name,Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  It says hallowed by thy name. His name is not Father his name is Yahweh. So it’s saying, you who are the Covenant Keeping God, your name is sacred, your name is blessed. It means blessed be the name of the covenant keeping God because in the name Yahweh or Yahshua is everything that you need, rescue, safety, physically or morally. People pray it thinking they are pleasing the Lord. It is not a matter of praying it over and over again. He gives you guidelines on how to pray. If the Lord wanted to hear that He would put it on a recorder and play it over and over again.

We are given guidelines on praying to the one that is our Father through faith. Everyone one who has been born again He is your Father. When you read the Lord ’s Prayer think of His name Yahweh the covenant keeping God. That has not changed.

Joshua 23:11 (KJV) 11 Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.

What this verse really says Take heed therefore unto yourselves, that you love the Covenant Keeping God your Creator. God created a people when He called Abraham out. Abraham and his family had worshipped other gods.

Joshua 24:1-2 (KJV) 1 And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God. 2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

He’s showing they came from idolaters. The Lord called a gentile (idolater) out of Babylon and worked with him and turned him into a man who believed Him to the point he entered into covenant. When Yahweh called him Abraham obeyed but he had yet to enter into covenant. When it says the Lord God of Israel it’s saying the Covenant Keeping God Creator of Israel. In the American Standard bible they translated Yahweh to Jehovah. The name Jehovah came out of paganism.

The Greek language was the world language as English is today. Much of the world understood the Greek language. The universal language today is English. Not all English is the same. When I first came to Ghana Pastor T.K. laughed when I pronounced the word wash. Winston Churchill said the biggest division between the two English speaking nations is the English language. In Britton they would say lorry meaning a truck. In the United States we call it a semi-truck. In Ghana West Africa it is called long truck. All are trucks it depended on what kind of truck. So language can be a hindrance.

Let’s look at Abraham and his journey with the Covenant Keeping God.

Genesis 11:31-32 (KJV) 31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. 32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

Haran was the frontier city where they worshiped the fertility god otherwise the moon god. It was at that place they would offer eggs and rabbits which is now part of what we call Easter. Abraham wanted a child. In the twelfth chapter of Genesis it begins with Abraham walking with the Lord and obeying the Lord. Abraham’s father had died. It was time to move on, it was time to move on.

Genesis 12:1 (KJV) 1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

As he obeys he is learning. As I said before the covenant started in Genesis.

Genesis 12:11 (KJV) 11 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:

Sara was an old lady that looked beautiful.

Genesis 12:12-13 (KJV) 12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. 13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.

Sara was Abraham’s half-sister. Some believe Abraham lied about his wife not realizing she was his half-sister. There came a time when marriage between siblings was wrong but not at this point in time.

Genesis 12:14-20 (KJV) 14 And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. 15 The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. 16 And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.
17 And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife. 18 And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? 19 Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way. 20 And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had
.

Abraham was afraid for his life at this point in his life unlike later on when he fought kings for Lot. The Covenant Keeping God had made a promise for Israel that they are going to inherit the land and the Messiah was going to come down through that line.

In the garden Eve would conceive. In the New Testament where it says the son of Ish  it’s the son of Adam. She would bear seed or the line that Jesus would come through. In different ways Satan tried to corrupt that bloodline. Yahweh the Covenant Keeping God determined that seed would come through Sara. Abraham in his fear told a half-truth but the Covenant Keeping God made sure she would not be impregnated or married to any other person so that line would be kept. Abraham was in fear and makes me think of a New Testament verse where we can be unfaithful but He is faithful still.

As we read the thirteenth chapter of Genesis I want to make a point that Abraham gave Lot a choice between the good land or the bad land. Lot looked and saw the good land and chose it. Abraham believed that he would prosper even in the bad land because of his covenant keeping God. Abraham is looking for the heavenly city.

If you are trusting the Covenant Keeping God the Word says he orders our steps - you can trust in that. Abraham was beginning to learn the faithfulness of the God he had been walking with. Abraham was learning he could still prosper no matter what, because he was a blessed man in covenant.

The purpose of the Covenant Keeping God from creation on is that the Messiah would come through a certain linage. Satan was trying to interrupt that and circumvent the bloodline the Messiah would come through.

Genesis 20:1-18 (KJV) 1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. 2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. 4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? 5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. 6 And God (the Creator) said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. 7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. 8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. 10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake. 12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. 14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. 15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee. 16 And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved. 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.
18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.

Here again, out of fear Abraham used deception in saying that his wife was his sister. He was relying on Yahweh’s faithfulness that the child he had promised him, Isaac, would come through Sara’s womb. So Yahweh told the king in a dream that if you touch that woman you’re a dead man.

Yahweh took the man, Abram a gentile, out of Babylon and made a covenant man out of him. Out of Abraham’s linage the Messiah would come. The verses we went over are prior to Abraham doing Romans 10:9. This occurred before he entered into a covenant relationship with the covenant keeping God.

We need to incorporate into our thinking that once you have entered into a covenant relationship that you are walking with a covenant keeping God. By His grace we are made whole. By His grace He became our Lamb.

John 1:29 (KJV) 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

The Jews understood the meaning of the name Yahshua that it meant salavation. And when they believed in the name and were baptized that they would be entering into a new blood covenant. They had lost their old covenant relationship because of sin.

When the Israelites left Egypt and took the blood of the lamb and put the blood on the door post. They were told to eat all the lamb and get ready to leave -  they left under the old blood covenant and avoided the death angel who killed all the first born males who were not covered under the blood of the covenant. You know the history there. They went out and there were no feeble knees, no sickness, he blessed them and took them across the Red Sea because they were covered by the blood.

We are living in a time where we need to be covered by the blood. You believe the blood shed at Calvary covered your sins but you should have understood it should bring you into covenant relationship. There is an old song I was thinking of recently it is When I See The Blood.

When I see the blood,
When I see the blood,
When I see the blood,
I will pass, I will pass over you.

And then another song..

Glory to His Name,
Glory to His Name:
There to my heart was the blood applied;
Glory to His Name

Genesis 14:1-13 (KJV) 1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations; 2 That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar. 3 All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea. 4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. 5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim, 6 And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness. 7 And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.
8 And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim; 9 With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five. 10 And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain. 11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way. 12 And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. 13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate (in covenant relationship) with Abram.

Romans 10:10 (KJV) 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession (covenant) is made unto salvation (rescue, safety, physically or morally, saving health, deliverance and aide).

When He the covenant keeping God sees the blood applied to our heart then the death stroke of Revelation 18:4 he will pass over us. That death stroke is the same type of death stroke that the first born of Egypt died of. It’s the same type of death stroke where 24,000 dropped dead in Numbers 25. This church must get out of Babylon (paganism). We must enter into covenant. When He sees we have a binding agreement or covenant with the Almighty God; the blood applied to your heart it will not touch you or your family because you are in a covenant relationship. Apply to your hearts the definitions about the Lord God of Israel. When the bible says the royal generation it should have been translated the royal race. There are only two groups of people the human race and the race that is created by new birth through the blood of Jesus Christ. The royal race is made of all nations and all people. Be ready when the time comes to be covered by the blood so the plague will pass over you.
